Previously:

two levels of Binah (understanding): Binah and Tvunah.

Tvunah is the extension of the light of Binah as a result of the proper absorption of the concept in the brain to bring it to expression in many different ways.

So the man of Tvunah is one who can explain a deep theoretical concept to another in simple terms and analogies, making the concept understandable in a down-to-earth way.

And now Chapter 2.02

Based on this we must say that the power of Tvunah is the power to extend the power of Binah to bring its depth down into revelation to the recipients etc. However, on the other hand if one is not a man of Tvunah, then even if he possesses a fine intellect in the faculty of Binah (what is called by the world a "grasper" i.e., one who can grasp difficult concepts easily, but not necessarily a good teacher, for he only possesses a good power of understanding in Binah itself, but cannot explain it to others. So that there could be someone who won’t understand as fast, but once he does will be better at explaining it, this is a person with a stronger Tvunah as opposed to Binah.) Still, it is possible that his understanding will remain in its essential abstract state within his faculty of Binah, which is only what is called "the spirit of his Binah" and as a result he won’t be able to bring any application from it into something outside the essential understanding at all (like to enclothe his understanding into analogies and parables in order to explain it to someone else). So that even though there are a length, width and depth in the understandable concept (i.e., as the concept is in Binah) itself, as mentioned previously; all of these dimension are only within the idea itself as it is essentially. So that even though it possesses a length, which represents the lowering of the idea, this is really only explaining the idea to oneself to make oneself understand. Similarly the width, to explain it in many different ways, is only to oneself, indicating that one sees the concept in many ways in ones mind, but not that the concept will be revealed below into something separate from the theoretical understanding of the concept. Now if this is the case about the length and width of Binah, which represent the actual tangible explanations of the concept in ones understanding, then surely the depth of the understanding remains in a hidden state in it’s original depth to oneself, remaining completely abstract and unexplainable. Similarly, the entire length and width of Binah, is all within the essence of the understanding as it is in its place alone, remaining theoretical and abstract.

An example for all of this can be found in this that we see in the depth of Talmudic debate and reasoning, with many arguments for each side of the debate, whether the law should be like this or like that. That, at times, even when these arguments are fully understood coming into the understanding of Binah, however, one may still not be able to bring to light from the essence of the intellect any legal ruling at all, whether for guilt or for innocence. In other words, one is not able to bring out of the logical argument any liability based on this reasoning, nor any merit based on this reasoning. This being since the logic and the reasoning are still only a theoretical idea and it is not yet possible to bring any application from it concerning a decision about a matter separate from it, in order to find someone guilty or innocent based on it. So that this theoretical understanding of Binah is comparable to a "Heeyulee" (a totally undefined potential; this definition will suffice for now, for a full explanation see chapter 10), for it is still not known what will come out from it, and what to do with it.
