Chochma Binah Daas

Length width and depth of Chabad

Kesser Chochma Bina' KeChaV of Chabad

Hisbonenus means in-depth analysis or learning. In Talmudic terminology this is called Eeyun as opposed to the surface level Geersah mode of learning.

Every concept includes a length, width and depth.

The length and width of the explanation (i.e., the Binah and Chochmah of Binah) come from the depth and are proportional to it. While conversely, one can only reach the depth by learning the length and the width. So that it turns out that the study (Eeyun) is only a vessel to reach the understanding of the depth. Also the concentration (Ha’amakos Ha’daas) is not the delving itself, but rather only acts as a vessel for the learning helping it to reach the depth, yet useless alone.

The same is true with the deeper level of concentration called Ma’amik where one thinks deeply into the inner truth of an idea, reaching into the depth of the Chochmah itself; that the depth can only be reached via the length and width of the explanation.

In addition the inner depth of Binah called the 50th gate of Binah actually reaches into the depth of Chochmah and therefore one can reach the depth of Chochmah through careful and concentrated study of the explanations of Binah.

Also, what the world believes that concentration alone, regardless of on what, will bring one to the depth of Chochmah and Binah is a mistake, for the concentration is only a vessel and if devoid of the content of Binah it is useless. Rather Binah and Daas work together and each helps the other to obtain the depth.
